Well, as the title of this post says, I'm a deployment widow again. Monte left yesterday with the entire 22nd MEU to go to help out in Haiti. I know what you are thinking..."didn't they just get back from deployment?" And the answer would be, yes. The main body has only been home for 5 weeks. Monte's been home a few more because he came home with the advanced party, but it doesn't really matter once they leave so soon again. It's good that they are going to help though. It breaks my heart every time I watch the news to see the people suffering.
So, I've switched gears again and have gone into deployment mode. Monte got the call that he was going on Wednesday morning. The movers were coming that day to load our stuff onto the truck and take it to the new house. We had an appointment with the fence guy and the cable guy as well later that day. Monte must have had some kind of sixth sense that something might happen because he had done the taxes the week before and was getting the last load of stuff out of our storage shed that was out in town that day. He had also decided to move the camper to the new house the day before, rather than waiting for our final inspection day for the old house, which is on Tuesday. All we had to do was dig through boxes for all of his gear, which was a chore in an of itself. But, we got everything packed and I dropped him off at his shop Friday morning. It was quite a site to see actually. All the military vehicles were loaded with equipment and lined up in two lines waiting to convoy out to the beach. Marines and families milling around waiting for the time to head out. A lot of wives and kids hang around until their Marine leaves, but I don't usually do that. The longer I wait around, the more upset I get, so I just help Monte get everything out of the truck and then say my goodbye's and leave. This way I can cry more in private. Monte doesn't like to see me cry anyway, as it makes it harder for him to leave.
So, I'm continuing to unpack and finished my kitchen last night....WOOHOO!!!! One room down and several more to go...ha ha. Once I get an email address, I'll let you know what it is so you can email Monte if you would like. It will take a few days to get set up though, so as soon as I get one, I'll let you know.
Well, I guess that's it for now. The boys and I are off to the old house to clean up and get it ready for final inspection on Tuesday. Have a great weekend everyone and keep Monte, the Marines and everyone in Haiti in your prayers. Thanks! God Bless! :)
