For Monte

Hey Everybody! Monte was finally able to get his own Facebook page! If you don't have him as a friend yet, send him a request. One of the first messages he sent me was to scold me that I haven't updated the blog lately. Go figure, he's scolding me from across the globe (ha ha, just kidding Baby)!

So, this post is for you Sparky. I hope you like the playlist. I heard the latest song by the Zac Brown Band (Toes) the other day and really liked it. I even downloaded it from iTunes. I decided to put it on the blog and when I looked it up, I started listening to some other songs by the band. As you can tell from the playlist, I found several that I like and I know you will like too. I think I'm going to download these songs and I'll put them on the memory card once I get it back from you.

The boys and I haven't been doing much lately. We went to Chapel Hill on the 3rd for another diabetes appointment for Brady. Nothings wrong, it was just time for his 3 month appointment. All went well, we're just adjusting his pump settings again. That is and will always be an ongoing process. As his body changes, the settings will need to change. I was really proud of myself that I got us there and back again and didn't get lost once! It was quite a confidence builder for me. :) After we got back, we had surf camp, as you read about in the previous post. Since then, we've went to the base theater and saw Transformers 2 and Ice Age 3. Transformers was GREAT and Ice Age was a cute movie. My favorite character in Ice Age was Buck. I loved it when he said he "Went Buck wild and turned the T-Rex into a T-Rachael!" I still laugh at that line when I hear it. Lets see, we also took a SFA (Smith Family Adventure) a couple of times. The first one was just a drive down the coast to get out of the house. A storm was coming in, so we weren't out long. We actually timed it perfectly as we got home and into the house just before the clouds opened up and the rain began to pour. We sure have some good storms here. The other SFA we took was to Wilmington last Saturday. We pretty much had lunch (at the Macaroni Grill..YUM!) and shopped around. Went to a couple pet store's for a new collar for Sophie, found a huge book sale and got a couple new books for each of us (you know me, wherever there is a book sale, I will be...ha ha) and stopped at a few other places like Ross, Marshall's, Target and Walmart. We were there pretty much the entire day and by the time we got home, it was 9 pm. We were tired, but had a great day. For those of you who don't know, Wilmington is a larger town about an hour's drive from Jacksonville. Its like going to Missoula from Kalispell for the day.

The boys started soccer on Monday. Well, Nate started practice on Monday and Brady started on Tuesday. Nate's team is called Fury and Brady's is called United. I'll be your typical soccer mom for the next couple of months. Nate has practice on Monday's and Thursday's and Brady has his on Tuesday's and Friday's. The games, I believe, start on Saturday, September 12th.

And finally, today is the first day of school! Yes, yes, it really is "THE MOST WONDERFUL TIME OF THE YEAR!" It's so quiet and peaceful in the house right now. Sophie's passed out on the couch (as you can see from the picture), I'm on the computer and GSN is on the TV. I'm watching Match Game while updating the blog. There's no arguing over who's going to use the red Wii controller or which game is going to be played. There's no fighting over which cartoon/show to watch on the TV (even though they each have a TV in their bedrooms). There's no yelling and whining because "He won't stop looking at me!" or "NATE, STOP!" or "BRADY! Mom will you tell Brady to stop?" and so on and so on. Monte tells me that by fighting, the boys are showing how much they love each other. Well, to quote Monte recently after one particularly aggravating fighting session and my subsequent venting to him in an email, "It sounds like the boys are lovin' the crap out of each other." I guess someday I'll look back on this and laugh.....right?

Well, that's about it for now. I'm making cookies today and running to the PX for red soccer socks and a soccer ball air pump. Our ball is flat and Nate needs it for practice tonight. Have a great rest of the week everyone and a great weekend too! God Bless! :)

Monte, I love you and miss you very much! According to the counter on the blog, only 111 more days to go. It can't go by fast enough! XO XO XO
