After leaving the campground at the Kankakee River State Park, we headed into the Village of Bourbonnais. Its actually a little town just outside of Kankakee, Illinois. As we're headed through the village, we see signs for the Chicago Bears training camp. The team wasn't practicing when we drove through, but they were setting up for them to arrive later that day for practice. The camp is located at the Olivet Nazarene University. It was quite a beautiful campus. In spite of all the beauty, I was amazed that I was seeing more of my "enemy" teams than I was of my beloved Pack. I mean, is this some kind of cosmic thumbing of the nose at me or what?.....ha ha. Actually, we were considering going up to Green Bay before we left Milwaukee. We were hoping to get in to see the Pack play against Cincinnati on Monday night. However, Lambeau Field has been sold out since like 1963 and the only way to get tickets is if season ticket holders sell them to you. Well, we found some online for sale, but they were just too darned expensive. Oh well, I'll get to Lambeau someday. And besides, I am so happy that I got to see the Pack play in San Diego. I believe it was 2003 and Monte and I had an AWESOME time! As much of a Broncos fan as Monte is, he even admitted that Packer fans were great and would hang out and party with them anytime.
After getting some breakfast that morning, we left Kankakee, Illinois and headed for Kentucky. On our way, we had to cut through Indiana a bit. The drive was again, long, but the boys entertained them selves by seeing how many truckers they could get to honk their horns for them. I think Nate was the winner, but we all (the truckers included) had fun and it helped to break up the long drive.
We stopped at another produce stand while in Indiana and got a fresh watermelon and some Salted Nutroll fudge. Boy, was that fudge good! And it tasted exactly like a Salted Nutroll candybar.
We came into Cave City, Kentucky late, I believe it was around 10 pm again when we got to our RV park. As before, we set up the camper and went to bed. I have tons of pictures for day 10 at Mammoth Cave National Park, so I will put that on a new post tomorrow as its 1:15 am and I'm wore out. Have a great day tomorrow and I'll get back to you as soon as we get set up at the next RV park. Hopefully that will be somewhere in Tennessee. Goodnight and God Bless!
